Travco 270 getting a Cummins Diesel swap
Here is fine. Keep it your own build thread. When you are done or close to done I wil sticky it. I am looking forward to this ALOT.
\nMy 440 doesn't sound all that healthy. I was hoping to get one more season but I may be referring to this alot. What I can tell you is I inquird about this over at Cumminsforum and one of the members knew they guy who did that one on Youtube and said he had to use a VE pump because of the way something ran. I'll put a link but sounds like you already have the info anyway. I can't wait to see this and LOTS of pics. I may modify your thread title to add cummins swap Travco so it shows up in the Google searches etc. There was also a guy who had an online blog of his Cummins swap but for the life of me I could not remember where I saw it.

By all means feel free to put it wherever or call it whatever you want. I tried to contact the guy from Youtube and got no response but I suppose he has had alot of inquiries and I know that he sold it a while back. The 6BT I have is the VE pump as I am trying to make this thing as simple as possible.

Re: Travco 270 getting a Cummins Diesel swap
Well here we go. I hope that this posting works, my wife is laughing at me and my lack of computer skills. The pics start out with "Aunt Fannie" getting a bloody nose and then progress through the removal of the 440 and 727. Notice that the gasser takes so much air it required 2 snorkels on the air cleaner! the later pics are of the VE (rotary) pumped 6BT and the Allison AT545 trans. that we are using. I also included pics of the timing case/gears and a close up of the repair I made on the "killer dowel pin" that the first and second generation Dodge motors have. This pin can vibrate out and roll through the timing gears which as you can guess, creates a bad situation. I will keep adding photos as I go along, but I hope this at least whets your appetite

\n\nAs you can see I also made a crude, quick, and dirty engine stand to do all of the prep. work on the Cummins. I am replacing all of the wear items like water and lift pumps, gaskets, seals and the like. I will also be adjusting the valves as I have no idea when that was done last.

Awesome. Yeah I have read about the KDP many times but never saw it up close. Nice wide open space to work once that big mooring is outta there. I'm gonna save my 440 for an old ramcharger to make a mudbogger outta.\nAny idea yet how the longer engine is going to work out in that space ? It did not look like the guy in the youtube had to modify the firewall.

Re: Travco 270 getting a Cummins Diesel swap
Don't envy me until I pull into your driveway! Using the factory big block motor mounts, the Cummins should be in front of the tranny hump but I will have to run an electric fan. I was going to do this anyway as it gives me more control over the cooling.
