Hi all. Sorry it has been so long since I last posted. Our computer went down and the tech had it for a MONTH! ARGH! Have been working night and day on Fanny and she is almost ready for our trip. I have put a little over 200 miles on her, not as much as I wanted but it will have to do. She has been running great and my only complaints are the noise level at speed and the fact that amazingly the 3:07 gears are still too much gear in my opinion. I will post some more pics. later, just didn't want you to think I fell off the face of the earth. Robb

Good to hear that it is running and driving. Post up a few "on the road" pics when you get some!

Hello from blazing hot Nevada where the low for tonight is 87. Between getting ready for the trip and now being on the trip I have not been able to post. Fannie has been running well and I now have about 3200 miles on her since the swap. The main issues that have cropped up have been lack of power going up the mountains and lack of brakes going down the mountains. I think larger injectors and turbo will solve the power issue and I am leaning toward Hydroboost brakes for the braking problem. When I was driving it around PA I did not have any issues but when you throw in 4000 foot changes in elevation it exposes any weaknesses. My wife is blogging about the trip if you would like to check it out the address is courneytrip2014.blogspot.com just type that in the address bar at the top of the screen. Overall I have been very happy with the swap and I will post more pics of the final steps when I get home. Thanks for the interest and wish us luck on the trip home.

No dash AC but we are running the roof unit when needed. We have been fortunate in that it has been bearable and now we are up in the mountains where the temps are great. I forgot to mention that Fannie is getting 15 MPG! An amazing jump up from the 5 she was getting with the 440. More later. Robb

WOW the MPG is great news. I'm curious, are you running the generator to power the roof A/C? Is it diesel and pull from same tank or do you have another tank for it?

Yes mileage is great and better than I had expected. I added a second tank for the generator for now but will probably add a diesel genset at some point. The Cummins has run flawlessly so far at about 5400 miles I will give more details about my opinions/experiences when I get home. More later Robb

I just found a guy selling an 89 Dodge Cummins PU with 116K miles he used on his farm only. Has no title and wants $2500 for it. Curious if this is a good donor for the swap. I really know nothing about the Cummins or diesel stuff...except it has monster torque and better mileage.
