Well I dropped the Tranny pan as it was leaking. Fluid was nice and clean and pan was clean but what a hack someone was. They used Silicone on the tranny pan. Big no no. Really...was a new gasket that expensive. What ever mechanic worked on this did not know a thing and should have his tools taken away. There was some silicone snot in the pan but does not look to have gotten past the filter.

\n\nMaybe check the plugs and see if it's running too lean? Is it possible that the muffler could be clogged?\n\nYea... silicone can do wonders for a transmission valve body!.. lolAcesneights wrote:Got the generator running but man the exhaust gets hot. I had a problem with it in my 220 where the muffler would glow but I thought it was rotten gas. It doesnt glow anymore but it seems to be too hot to me. it runs perfect otherwise. I hit it with a laser and the muffler was in the 450-500 degree range. It was 250 degrees at the end of the tail pipe. That seems to hot. What gives ??

Maybe it is running a bit to lean or to early. Both will give very hot exhausts. I would start with less advance if possible.

Something is screwy with that carb too. I replaced the bowl gasket but it is still leaking between the bowl and airhorn. The carb should really come off but I am fearing messing with the intake/ex manifold bolts. I remember when I took it off last time, it was in pieces and had to order anther one. The intake/ex manifolds generally don't come off well on these old CCK Onans. I can only imagine what another new one would cost if even still available...I wish I had the money for a Honda RV genset but it cost more than the RV...lol

Well she will be off to the spring shop this week unless I do them myself.\nIt is lisping to the pass side and further investigation revealed the hack that worked on this tried shoving a 1" steel block under the spring to compensate. Honestly...some people should not have access to tools.\nThe springs in the junk 220 look the same minus 2 leafs so I was thinking about harvesting them for some extra leafs and rebuild the stack in frame so I don' have to screw with the main leaf...\nWill get estimate first from spring shop.

Well, the springs are gonna be on hold since the waterpump just let go. A word of warning. Don't ignore squealing belts. My PS belt was squealing. I decided to tighten it. Well the reason it was loose was the waterpump pulley flopping around. I'm lucky it did not come apart. To be honest I had a feeling I would into the cooling system sooner than later after that Mud I drained out of it. The radiator is clogged lid. I can't believe this thing did not overheat. I got a bad feeling the Rad shop is gonna tell me the core is shot...Uggghhhh

Re: My 1975 Travco 270
What a headache to get this waterpump. Even with the casting numberz it was showing the wrong one. I finally looked it up on Napa's site under a 1974 mlb300 and came up with Napa tfw42040.\nPic looks right. 2 day air to get it...$$$\nOn a better note rad shop said rad core initially looked ok except its a mess inside.\nThe hack who worked on this must have loaded it with stopleak because of the waterpump.\nWhat a waste of space this guy was. There is nothing in this lemon that has not been hacked in the worst possible way.

Good news from the rad shop. Rad is usable. He said plan on a recore next maybe longer.\nNo problem. It only has to hold until the Cummins swap. Hopefully this winter....
