Re: 1972 270 Restoration "The Mean Bean"
I installed a new exhaust this weekend. Used a flowmaster 50 series bigblock muffler, dual 2.5 pipe to the back with 3" custom made stainless bellflower pipes. It sounds good. Nice and quiet inside too.
I also charged the the dash ac and got it working. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

It sounds like the series 50 Flowmasters worked for you. I put 2 1/2" series 70s on Nessie 5 years ago. Much quieter than the blown out glass packs I got her with.dirtydeno wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 8:35 amI installed a new exhaust this weekend. Im pretty happy with it. It was supposed to be their quietest muffler for drone and so far it was a good choice. Love the sound of that 413! Id post video but its too big. I have some more progress coming in the next few days, Ive been pretty busy.KB2CRK wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 5:43 amIt sounds like the series 50 Flowmasters worked for you. Re: 1972 270 Restoration "The Mean Bean"
New progress, i installed a Dometic 320 toilet and a Kwikee step. Im still having issues with oveheating so im trying to tackle that. I installed a severe duty fan clutch and 18" Derale fan. It pulls a lot more air through the radiator than it did but its still not enough. Im going to change the thermostat this weekend as a last ditch effort before removing the radiator and finding a new one that will fit in its place. Im hoping the previous owner installed the wrong thermostat and that fixes it.

that water pump is a simple fix and not expensive. have you replaced that ? my 70 413 runs cool always, even when crossing the desert out west it never overheated with the original radiator. make sure the new t-stat is the correct one for that motor. it has a bypass hole built into as I recollect.

Well i pulled the thermostat and it was the wrong one. I installed a skirted MR gasket 4367 and the temps dropped. it does 190 with the AC on, driving. Still creeps up idling but thats ok.
