1966 270 Chassis

Unread post by Travco2701966 » Sat May 09, 2015 2:04 am

Can anyone help me, I am trying to find out what chassis would be under my 1966 ~ 270?\nThen would you know who is the best supplier to buy parts off?\nI have read information that says from 1968 it was a Dodge motorhome chassis M300, and then I read that it was always a M300 Chassis since 1962, it is a bit confusing.\nI have of an issue with the brakes and plan on buying a Chassis service manual so that I can order the correct parts. Thanks

Welcome !!\nAs far as I know the M300 was the chassis used in the early to mid 70's Travco 220's. I am not sure what they used in 1966. I thought we had a breakdown somewhere of chassis years but I can't seem to find it. I'll look some more later. NAPA is your best bet for most driveline stuff but you may have to get creative on how you loook for the parts and always check our parts sticky threads for updated part numbers. The hardest things to deal with is the brakes.\nInterior is just generic RV parts . Winshields are still avaliable but big $$. The windshield gaskets are the only factory (sort of)part I know of still available for these. Foretravel took over Travco in the 80's and burned out the brand. The gaskets are the only thing they still sell.\nMight be an M375 chassis ?\nTry this...\nhttp://www.travcoforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=534

I have a 66 270. The early coaches were on a P375 chassis. This chassis can be loosely described as a P300 chassis with frame rails extended and an industrial 318-3 engine. The P300 was the forward control truck...like a heavy milk truck. We ordered parts from NAPA using P300 as the chassis and we always got the right thing. Sometimes they don't list P300 so you can try D300 which would have been dual wheel 1-ton truck. They were quite successful with the P 375 and I think it morphed into the M300 when motor homes really caught on. M300 probably was born around 1968. Hope this helps.
