Where are the hoses in relation to that pic? Can you put a larger pic up somewhere? I cannot see whats going on there.\n\nBrace yourself for the heater-core repair. It's gonna need to be "recored". I suggest sitting down when you get the estimate. \n\nI *just* went through the same thing on my '75. Ended up using a Dodge B2500 core and some creative plumbing. Ran about $60 and heats very well.

A nice timely topic and at a "cool"time...(Late october)\nGot a year and part number for the B2500 heater core that "works"??..\n$60.00 sounds way better than $400.00 in my frugal Travco expenditure book.\nBBB

Removed my heater assembly today from the 66. \nPretty cool well-built by Truck and Coach Heater Mfg of Detroit. I went to internet the company is still in business under another name. Fan works fine going to pressure test it has not been wet in 30 years wish me luck.

My 76 heater core is hung off the front steel chassis with two brackets. Came out pretty easy and I noticed the grounding was ineffective as the blower motor was grounded to the heater box which was hung on the chassis.\n\nGround bus bar straight to the battery did the trick.\n\nRobC

[quote="Fellchase"]Removed my heater assembly today from the 66. \nPretty cool well-built by Truck and Coach Heater Mfg of Detroit. I went to internet the company is still in business under another name. Fan works fine going to pressure test it has not been wet in 30 years wish me luck. \n\nUpdate: I blew clear water through the core it seemed very clean. I connected the unit to my Ford truck and pressure tested it. Let the truck warm up and pump hot anti-freeze thru the travco heater core. Wired up the motor and ran both speeds. Let it run for 30 minutes or so...no leaks. Put it back in the coach and it works good as new after a 30 year sleep. The heater box is pretty cool on the '66 it's a wooden box built under the radio. Defroster hoses enter the box at top and the little swing out manual doors for driver and passenger heat on either side. Heater control, valve worked bought that on Amazon. The action on the new valve was facing wrong way from what I wanted so I just cut cable retainer off my old HCV and mounted the new valve backwards works like a charm.
