Billy- last night I went back and re-read a bunch of the this thread and most of the replies and you called it a while ago. Not only did you talk about jumped timing chain, but you mentioned checking the valves and tappets to ensure they were all working as they should. Had I listened I would have pulled that valve cover off a long time ago!\n\nI tip my hat to you Billy.\n\nand thanks to all of you that chimed in and put up suggestions. I leaned a lot. Now lets see how this HEI does. Ill keep you all posted.

Well I finally have the 440-3 about ready to go. I have converted over to the GM HEI Distributor and a 12SI, 94amp GM alternator. I made a new wiring harness for the engine also. Now to get the 72 into the shop and start putting her back together. \n\nI am going to pull the axles off the 76 and skid the shell out of the shop hopefully this weekend. then I can get the 72 in there.
