Rebuilding Hydro-vac boosters 1974 Travco 960/270 RM400

Unread post by jayandrobyntravco » Wed Jan 20, 2016 5:31 pm

Can anyone suggest a good shop to have Bendix Hydro-Vac boosters rebuilt? I have found a man in Atlanta who can do it for about $175/each not including shipping (not sure it includes the core charge either). We are located in central Missouri and no one has rebuilt boosters like this on hand that I can find. Any help or guidance would be most appreciated. \nThanks, \nJayandRobyntravco@gmail

Is there a way to post photos here? I need help finding the correct Boosters. Alretta said they have them, but didn't give me parts info...just a very steep quote. Thanks!

[quote]\n\nYou are in luck. I just received four units into stock yesterday. If your vehicle has a 5 or 8 lug wheel, front disc brakes with twin piston caliper, and rear drum brakes, featuring a 440 engine and 17.5 or 19.5 tires... The units I have are correct. I sell lots of them. Your images are correct.\n\nThe units are $325 each plus a $55 core charge. These ship as individual cartons UPS ground, well reinforced. I inspect every one. Shipping charges are actual ups charges to you[quote]

Does anyone know if this would be the correct part for the 960/270 1974 RM400—A1 Cardone 51-8055 Brake Booster?

\nThe difference is the rear mounting bracket. Other than that as far as I could tell they were the same. I just swapped the back cover..Mine stops fine and the Rockauto ones were alot cheaper.

IIRC there was a core charge so you will have to put the new back covers back on your old boosters and return them. Swapping the covers is very easy and elf explanatory. There is a big spring inside but not alot of tension on it. Not like a Maxi can or anything like that.
