1975 270 Radiator Options
*Thinking* of taking the 270 on a 2 week camping trip this upcoming summer (2016). Northern Minnesota/Lake Superior North Shore etc.\n\nHaving some concerns on my original 440-3 radiator..\n\nAnyone here done a swap to a new aluminum one? If so, which one? I haven't checked the local radiator shops yet, but the quote on my heater core was $700 to $900. Can't imagine a full rad re-core.\n\nAny input would be appreciated!

Re: 1975 270 Radiator Options
I was quoted 500 for a full radiator recore here in Georgia. I took it to an old fashioned radiator shop and they were able to repair the minor damage caused by the fan clutch hitting it when the water pump went out. The shop told me that the old radiator was in excellent shape and that the old core is a lot better than the new ones. I switched to electric fans when I had it fixed and have had no issues even when driving it in 100 degree heat.

Hi,\nCan you tell us what electric fan setup you went with? I am considering switching over to electric fans and would like a recommendation as to what type, size, model, etc. works best.\nThanks!

I will see if I can find the info. I put it in over a year ago. They are either 14 or 15" fans with one pulling and one pushing slightly offset from each other.

7-900$ for a heater core ??? \nWhat is gold plated with diamonds ?\nThat is insane. The one for my 5 ton which is the size of a small radiator was only 170$\nFind a new radiator shop.

\n\n\nNobody local does recores anymore. Needs to be sent out and it's crazy spendy. I ended up using a similar Dodge heater core that works just fine. Think it was under $40. It's in another thread I posted last fall on here...\n\nTangling with exhaust header flange leaks this weekend. Hopefully got it sorted, but busted a spark plug and need to wait till tomorrow for vroom-vroom.. Sounds like it's gonna snow again anyways.Acesneights wrote:7-900$ for a heater core ??? \nWhat is gold plated with diamonds ?\nThat is insane.
