270 Holding tank flange replacement?

Unread post by diskman » Sun May 15, 2016 8:27 pm

I got my holding tank all fixed up with the quart Plasti-Mend kit last weekend. Had to repair 3 looong cracks and some corner problems. Tacked the rest of the plumbing this weekend. PEX ahoy! \n\nFound my holding tank valve leaking. Simple to replace.. BUT the mounting flange on the tank side has a busted up bolt hole. \n\nIs it possible to replace the main gate flange from the tank side or is it glued on? \n\nAnyone replaced their mounting flange yet?

Nessie's was glued on. Luckily it was in decent shape. The tank did need repair where the drain went into the tank.

I ordered a new valve assembly on Amazon last night. I will try to cut apart the new flange and see if I can build up the busted original one. Plasti-Mend is awesome!

New valve installed over lunchtime. Ordered the 3 inch from Amazon.com. Came with the cap too.\n\nRan a few gallons of water into the tank and NO LEAKS! Woo Hoo! Valve works great! \n\nNow I need to address the leaking "Street Water" hookup. When I pressurize the system from the tank side, the street inlet leaks. I assume there is a one-way valve in there somewhere?? I will probably just unscrew it from the main T and cap that leg off. I don't plan on ever hooking to city water. Will be a reversable mod anyways.\n\nImage

There is a check valve in the line to the outside. It is supposed to close when using onboard water. Mine leaks a little and I will get it fixed but not at the top of the list right now.

Hmm.. After doing some research on teh Googles it appears I can maybe fiddle with the valve from the outside with a small screwdriver to get it to seat better.\n\nI'm just concerned with the pump running needlessly to build pressure back up in the system. At least until I get my solar panels installed for the battery. I only have 1 battery as someone before me removed ALL of the 12v charging/maintaining items. But.. That will be a different project..

I had the same problem with batteries and a power converter. Fixed now and possible solar in the future. I usually keep the pump turned off unless I am using it.
