What temp is everyone at

As the rear heater is a stand alone design maybe worth getting fixed? It would supply "free" heat to the rear from the heat the engine produces... I have mine yet as a spare just in case I want to put one in... Am not aware of my current model having a rear heater...IMO\nBBB

If I can find one I may replace it but as it stands I have a Heatpump for the roof I picked up when I thought the old ac was bad. I will be putting it in the rear roof vent. The heater unit is under the small dresser on the right side below the bottom drawer on my 76 Mahal. The hoses are still going to the water heater to give free hot water on the road. That actually works quite well.

Back to the original subject, Nessie with all of her coolant leaks fixed and a coolant recovery bottle on never got over 210 on a long uphill grade on the interstate. This was running 65 mph pulling the sorento on a dolly. Most of the time she was running 185 on the back roads and 195 on the interstate.

\nWhat temp thermostat are you running? 160 or 180?

It is a 180 degree thermostat and the electric fans kick on at 195.

I went on a 50 mile cruise Saturday with no trailer. I am running a 180 thermostat and the temp stayed around 190-200 and would get to 210-220 when climbing big hills at highway speeds. Cruising level at 60mph put the temp gauge back to 190-200. Around town driving brought it down to 180. Ambient temperature here in the Texas hill country was about 80. All values are in Fahrenheit.

In Texas isn't highway speeds 80 mph? I would say that is pretty damn good. Nessie was running at the same range at highway speeds here in Georgia but I did not push her over 70 (left side header blew a gasket on the way out and got louder over 65). I have to fix that, the power steering leak at the steering box, and a few other items before her big trip in the end of July.

Yep, Speed limit is 80 out here on I-10 but I mostly run the Travco at 60-65mph. That's where the sweet spot seems to be.

After playing with it last summer I have just gotten used to a vehicle that runs at 210-230 in Appalachian mountains. Engine doesn't seem to mind so I am calling it done.\n\nRunning 413 with rebuilt radiator, new waterpump, new fan clutch and 180 thermostat. It seems very outside temp sensitive. Once the temp gets to high 70's I slow down to about 60-63 mph.

\n Took a 300 mile trip this last weekend. Climbing hills at 70-75mph, I saw the temp gauge get to 230 once or twice and then slowly come back down to 200-210 after I slowed back to 60mph. I noticed that on my return trip (when the outside temp was cooler) the engine also ran cooler. Your temp range sounds pretty normal to me.
