That is a dust shield. Most floating axles have them. Yo can do the seal without removing it.

How do you remove the seal with that type of configuration? I typically use a seal puller "pry" tool on smaller automotive stuff. Does this one require a tool that "pulls" the seal by pulling on the bearing relative to the drum thereby pulling the seal?\n Sorry if this is getting off the topic of this thread...

I usually use a piece of wood and drive the bearing and seal out from the other side. In other words I stick my piece of 2x2 in through the side that faces out and smack the inner bearing towards the seal and the whole seal and bearing comes out. Just make sure there is a clean rag under it or someone helping to catch the bearing so it doesn't fall on the ground and get full of dirt.

Another way although the drum is kinda heavy is to pull the outer bearing while the hub is on the spindle then thread one of the axle nuts back on and just yank the drum and hub towards you and that usually pops it out also.

Hi I have a 74 Travco 270 and my passenger side rear adjusters are frozen up does any one have any tricks to geting it loose? I tried rust buster but no luck, and saw a video just now showing a guy with a torch heat it up for a minute at most and get it freed up with some vicegrips but not sure if ill be able to do that since the adjuster wheel is abit larger than his. Also I think Im missing the piece that sits in the dust shield of each side of the cylinders and makes contact with the shoes, does anyone know what this is called? I tried looking at davesplace but didnt see that part listed, or if it was there wasnt a pic with it. Any help would be much appreciated!

Do you have Twinplex\n\nor the Duo-Servo Brakes?

I believe it is the twinplex.
