I took the box off the frame and used a standard heavy duty puller to get the pitman arm off of the box.\n\nThis is the puller I used. \nhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ETWGKY/re ... UTF8&psc=1

I took the whole bracket off as it was only bolted on. I had pictures on here prior to Photobucket cutting them off. Let me see If I can find them and try to load them.

\n\nA couple of the pictures. There are more than four bolts holding the bracket on. Four on the side and one or two up top, I dont quite remember. Never mind, Quite visible in the picture. There are two on top of the frame rail besides the four though the side.

If you get the bracket off of the frame you have all the room in the world to get the arm off with the basic heavy duty puller. I had to loosen the bracket to get the drag link off of the Pittman arm. Also had to get the drag link back in the pittman arm before fully mounting the bracket back on the chassis. I found it easier to get to everything with the radiator out of the way and replaced the pot jot with a borgeson joint. The steering is nice and tight.

\nThe flat steel on mine was welded to the frame behind the bracket\n\n
New and old.JPG
\nThe borgesson joint I got from Jegs. I had planned to use the original double d shaft with the new joint but it would have been shorter than I would have liked so I got a new one and cut it to length.\n\n

\n\nVery easy to change and makes a world of difference.

Did you check the parts list here on the forum. I got the part number from the travco group on Facebook and I thought I had the number here somewhere. I am not sure if it changed between yours and a 76 though.

was the box bad ? Most of the time just needs a stub shaft seal. That can be replaced without removing the box.
