Tires/wheels for my '66 270 Low Fenders

Unread post by Fellchase » Sun Jan 18, 2015 10:25 am

Hey Guys:\nGot '66 and '68 Model '270 coaches in the P375 chassis. Both are running 7.50-16 radials and tubes the split ring BUDD wheels I wonder if you guys could give me some guidance on the retrofit for the one piece wheels. We have the big six lug pattern. (7.25) BC? Thesecearly models have the low fenders front and back so I can't have any more height on the tires I run. Wouldn't be able to get them in the hole because of clearance to the fiberglass body. I have tried to determine the tire heightofvwhat I have but it's confusing. \n\nI had advice suggesting the 8R-17.5 solution. Do you guys know what is the tire height for the 17.5 and the 19.5?\nAnybody done this on the lo fender ('63-'68)?\n\nKeep up the good work.

The 8r-17.5s IIRC are also split rim. 19.5 rims are near impossible to find.\nI thought the older 270's were 8 lug ??\nI know on the 220's they ran 7.50 16 split rims and I switched them over tubeless metric. I forget the size but wanna say 235-85-16 ??

The later 270's have 5 lug. I am not sure what would fit that pattern. My F600 has 6 lug and so does my Deuce and a Half.\nI wonder if that could be converted to 8 lug ??

I think some of the Isuzu medium duty trucks have a similar 6 lug pattern but not sure if it's the same ??

as I am totally clueless about setbacks, offsets, tires et al: \nRegarding this item I dug up you, will/would have to take at \nprinted value. It's a bit dated but the nfo should stand... HTH.\nBBB

Great info. \nResearch tells me the 7.5R 16 tire is 32- inch diameter and 650 revs per mile. \nThat's the tires on coach now. \nLooks like I got some more discovery to do. \nWould like to find 6-lug on 7.25 one piece wheel and mount 32-inch diameter tires on them. \nThanks you guys are great. \nAnybody done this on a low fender 6lug lemme know.

snooping about, looking for items for my 74, I came across\nanother tire factoid... It's a bit dated but the situation existed years ago, and \nstill has some value. NFO can be gleaned for some one's situation, this is one more tip. HTH\nBBB
