I still have the option to run my wheels covers but for now, I'm digging to steel wheel look! :D

Thanks!\nSo, It seems that the tire balance beads work. I have driven the coach at speeds up to 75mph and it's smooth as can be. I'm running 75 psi in the new tires and the ride is definitely softer than with the shorter sidewall 225's.

Went with cream colored paint to match the gelcoat. \n\nWire wheel and wire brush on the grinder and drill took the old paint off easily, about 45 minutes for the first wheel which was the spare.\n\nFor the life of me I can't get the lugs off even with a 4 foot cheater. on the 3 foot lug wrench (abou5 6 feet total I know these things are tight and maybe I am too chicken to stand on it. The wrench is rated for 1000 ft/lbs but I am skeptical......\n\nI need to get the left rear inner off (that is the one that blew on its own sitting in the driveway). So I can take both rims in for new rubber I don't want to call for a service truck but maybe it's time?\n\nI have the capability of adding another 6 feet onto the wrench. I will see how that goes. I don't have a budd socket extension but the angle isn't too bad although I can't use the jack/pivot point technique used by 77.\n\n\n\nRob

Make sure that the lug nut is not left hand thread... there will be an "L" or "R" stamped on the end of the stud. Left hand threads are turned clockwise to loosen.

Any chassis interference trouble with the added diameter with the Samson's vs. the old 225 tires?\n\nWas 8R19.5 the original size called out by Dodge for the 77 model?\n\nSince my 1971 has the original 7.5-17 tires with split ring wheels, I'm wondering if the final diameter of your 8R19.5 is the same as my 7.5-17...

When I worked at a Chemical and my tanker had a flat, this old timer would come out, tear the tire apart,\nput a patch on the inside, use a slightly soapy liquid around the bead, toss in about a teaspoonful or more of gasoline\ninside the tire and light it... The minor explosion would pop the bead right up onto the rim in the blink of an eye..\nBeen at that scene many times and it works...\nFWIW\nBBB\nPS: Snoop about the side compartments, Travco furnished a "lug wrench/bar with each end for the inner and outer nuts?" \nand a leverage bar with each unit. I still have the ones from my 76. \nThe pricey 3/4" drive budd sockets are available from NAPA..

8R19.5 was the original tire size on my Travco 270. (about 33" diameter)\n\nYes Billy, I considered that method but I had 6 (brand new tires) to do and I just didn't want any surprises... :D

Ether is what was generally used to bead tires and only on tubeless. Done it that way for years till I got older and finally bought a cheetah. Split rims should only be done by a pro and use a cage.

hhmm... never saw ether used on a flat truck tire..only for cold & hard non glow-plug equipped pre-heater engines. \nmight be a nor'eastern thing... gasoline was cheaper in the 80's...\nBBB
