Tire pressures

Unread post by KB2CRK » Thu Apr 07, 2016 3:16 pm

What tire pressures is everyone running? I found the page in the chassis manual and according to it I should be able to run 80 psi in all six tires with no problem with load capacity. I have been 100 psi and it has been beating the hell out of us going down the road.

Here's a tire inflation chart that I found on the internet... 19.5 tires are on the 2nd page down.\nhttp://www.goodyearrvtires.com/pdfs/rv_inflation.pdf\n\nWhen I had 225/70-19.5's I was running 95psi and it rode very rough. I was just going by the sidewall numbers. Since then I did some research and found that tires can support a certain amount of given weight for a certain amount of given air pressure. \nI have since put on the correct size 8R19.5's (taller and skinnier). Their sidewalls have a max of 110psi printed on them but I actually run them at 80psi in the rear and 85psi in the front for a very nice ride. This is well within their carrying capacity for my 270's weight according to the above tire inflation chart. Construction and specs being the same of course.

Good to know. I was using the tire chart in the Dodge Motor home Chassis manual and as far as I could see 80 was well within the load limits.

\nWhat size tires are you running? Try 80 in the rears... you might be surprised how much smoother it rides. I may try 75 in the rear and 80 in the front next.
