Turn signals and running lights
Got my turn signals and head lights to work. No running lights or ID/tag lights yet. Still need to check the running lights themselves. \n\nI know this is somewhat mundane for some of you but for a mediocre electrician like me I am totally psyched I figured it out using the schematic, the rats nest of wires in the rig, etc. ripping the floor out sure made it easier to isolate, assess and replace wires underneath!\n\nRob\n\nPS: I also found the chrome bezels for the headlights and turn signals in a box the PO had stashed a bunch of towing stuff in. This means I am refurbishing the existing lights/bezels instead of going with new bigger rubber grommet turn signals.\n\nI am making good progress on my rig as of late.

I hear ya. Mice ate the wire going up to my clearance lights and I just did not feel like dropping the panels again. I tapped into power from the cigarette lighter/ant amp and put a lighted switch up there for my clearance lights.

Re: Turn signals and running lights
The wiring diagram shows a tell-tale three way junction with no connector that feeds the whole clearance light system.\n\ngot a good/bad feeling about that junction. Checking it out today. So far all of my electrical woes have been corrosion/bad connectors.\n\nMy wife asked me how I can pour over the diagrams for hours- and map out these systems in my head.\n\nI told her it is kind of like meditation. Total immersion to the point you can't think about anything else while diagnosing the system. \n\nShe doesn't get it. Must be a guy thing.\n\nRob

Re: Turn signals and running lights
being electrically challenged, am I to presume you have a junction but no connecting feed?\nPossible it pulled loose after 40 years of bouncing and "kind of" retracted to a position you cannot see????\nWonder if when the ligfhts are on if that missing wire has a bare hot end???/ curious...\nMight be a good thing as now you might be inclined to run a seperate "hot" wire and use it for power and blinking the markers in thanks for whatever reason... Thats how mine are going to redone..All the semi's I ever drove had a toggle switch on the dash for flashing high beams and markers... IMO/fwiw\nBBB

Re: Turn signals and running lights
Turn signal update:\n\nmy side turn signal markers were full of mud and water so removed them drilled out the corroded steel holes for both turn signal and parking lights to an aftermarket socket size. Worked great. It was a pain in the ass drilling the goofy shaped signal fixture but worked out. I know have working turn signals all around.\n\nRunning lights still elude me.....\n\nRob
