Hey everyone, I was just curious to know if anyone out there has upgraded or replaced their stock GenSet with something modern? If so, what was your experience and do you have any suggestions on what units are ones to look at and what ones to avoid. \n\nAlso, post any pictures of your system and set up if you have any.

Actually the Older CCK and NH Onans that came in these rigs are nearly indestructible and very reliable No electronics. If I was gonna go newer I think the only thing I would even consider would be a Honda RV genset. They pop up on CL every now and then.\nThe genset in mine was actually from my Father's 1970 . It is a 1969 Onan 4.0 cck.

Thanks for the info Aces. The only reason I ask is because I am looking at a Travco that has been completely gutted with the exception of the motor and drivetrain. I have been researching what other people have done in regards to alternative GenSets in the case that I can't locate a good, running Onan unit. In the case that I can't find a decent Onan unit, are there any other generators that you've had experience with or others that you know of?

I wish I could help but the original Onan 6.0 NH Power Drawer still runs well in our 76. It did need a new control board but mechanically has no problems.

I had a Travco that I put a Kohler in.. If you poke around CL though Onans are usually not too hard to find. Stay away from the Emerald Series. They had some issues. The older ones are better. Generac makes RV gensets too but IMHO Generac is the Hyundai of generators.
