Black water tank removal for repair? 1975 270
Working on the old girl a bit this winter to get a head-start in summer camping. My black water tank has several cracks that previous owners have JBwelded and such. I would like to pull the tank if possible to use some of the kits and plastic mending kits out there.\n\nIs it possible to remove the tank or is it glued to shower drain, sink drains and toilet??\n\nRemoval would probably result in a much better repair. But, I can make due with it in the vehicle also. Will NOT be ideal, but whatevs.

Did it just over a year ago. Toilet drain screws in top rest of piping is glued in. Fernco couplings are your friend. Pictures are also in the other thread.\nhttp://www.travcoforum.com/viewforum.php?f=25

Dropping the holding tank isn't too bad. The only pipe you have to cut is the one coming over from the sinks IIRC. Make a straight cut and you can put it back together with a Fernco. The closet flange from the toilet has screws holding it o the floor. Once you remove them the whole thing should unscrew from the hold tank. The shower I think you can under the trap and then the wires for the gauge and the two straps.

Pictures!\n\nMessing with the 270 yesterday for a bit. Decided to investigate the leaking holding tank. I knew it was patch previously but never really took a look at it. Yep. Giant 12 inch Bondo patch. Grabbed a large putty knife and most of the Bondo popped right off.\n\nRevealing several cracks. yay...\n\nI ordered the large (1QT) Plasti-Mend this morning. Hoping I can use a flap-disk on my grinder to carefully remove whats left of the Bondo and clean the areas up...\n\nLooks like there are about 4 areas of cracks. ugh. I think I will add some steel stock across the straps to add support to the middle of the tank when I fix the cracks. \n\nWish me luck! Will be next weekends project.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
