Unread post by jeeprobb » Thu Mar 28, 2013 8:03 pm

I am going to look at a 1977 290 Friday night and I suspect it will be bigger than what we want. Anyone who is interested let me know and I will give you the info. on it. It is in beautiful balmy NW PA in good running condition with lots of maintenance, I have not seen the inside yet. I will keep you all posted. Robb

The guy said it is a 290, I have seen them mentioned a couple of other places but not very often. I will try to get some pics. If it is a 270 we might be more interested, we will see.

Went and looked at the 290 last night it is in great shape for its age. It is a 1977 and it is a 290 I gave the owner(Ed)the link to this forum and suggested he post it here. He is asking $6500.00 and everything is supposed to be functional. This coach is in good unmolested original shape and just needs a little TLC. Ed has done a significant amount of work on the drive train, it is a 440 M500. I will let him give all the other details. Robb

Went and looked at a 270 tonight also nearby us (who knew) very good condition not perfect but tastefully updated and ready to camp. They are thinking of selling it, 55,000 miles, new rad., tires, water pump, fridge, tranny gone over by shop. Any thoughts on what it might be worth? Prices seem to be all over the show and the guy said to make an offer, I said that I'm not sure where to begin and would he think about it and be in touch, he agreed. I would appreciate any input. Thanks Robb

What year ? That makes a difference. How is the gelcoat ? Also try to look under it real well at all the steel webbing that the fiberglass is attached to. Surface rust is ok but rot or bad deterioration requires major welding. Check around the windows real careful for soft spots in the walls. he window gaskets are notorious for leaking. Check the pass side exhaust manifold too. The almost always crack on the 440's. Mine is cracked. My last one was cracked too.\nGenerator ? 1 or 2 a/cs ?

Sorry about that, I realized later that I left out a bunch of info. 1974 270 gel coat in good to very good shape, stored inside or under roof its whole life, no rust underneath and no apparent leakage inside. Exhaust is quiet so I imagine not cracked but did not look yet. I would do a more thorough inspection before we make an offer. Thanks Robb

Without seeing it my guess would be 6-8k if it's mint. Also to consider is tires. Are they good ? Are they tubeless or tube ?\nTires can be BIG bucks.

So Travco made a 290? It's not a 270 or 320?
