Ok, I'll start.......
I have been a Travco enthusiast since I was a little Kid. My Dad bought a 1970 Travco 220 new and I was 2 so I grew up in it. Some of my best childhood memories were in that camper and I want my son to have the same. I restored it back in the 90's and used it for a party bus/camper. My buddies and I use to cruise it out to the Long Island Hamptons and park in the fields and drink an party all night. It made a trip to Super Chevy weekend too.Boardy Barn, CPI Beach Bar...yep times were good. Dad saw how good I fixed it up and repo'd it. I found another one sitting in a field. Windshield was blown out, it had not run in years. it was a 75 220. That one had a 440 in it. The guy who owned it was heart broken to sell it but after a promise by me to save it, he sold it to me for a measly 300$. I spent about 2 months and it cleaned up real nice. I later sold it when I bought my first house in '99. I needed money so I did about the dumbest thing I ever did and sold it. In the meantime my folks had been building their retirement home in North East Ct so Dad's Travco was being used as a weekend home while working on the house. After the house was done the Travco sat, the mice got in, i was parked on a hill...and the water got in. I wanted it back. I bought it off them for way more than it was worth...But I wanted it and knew if I didn't that was gonna be the end of it. Got it back to LI and fixed it all up. Took it to Wheeliefest..www.realrockpro.com.\nSo I wasn't using it and needed money again...Think I would have learned the first time right ??\nI did the unthinkable and sold it. Think the guy was gonna live in it or something. So a year or so goes by and I get the Travco bug again...Call the guy up to buy it back...No good he doesn't wanna sell. So I start looking on the Internet and find a 1975 Travco 270. Hmmm...Never had a 270..Nice lady in Ohio had it. I trusted her description and me and my then Girlfreind(now wife) flew out to Ohio and bought it and drove it back to LI. The lady even loaned me her license plate. We do a Wheeliefest run and a few camping trips...Well....The stork comes a knocking and now I need money for a ring...yep..you guessed it..Sold it. I wasn't in love with that one though for some odd reason. Well about 8 months later just before the baby is born...I find a 1973 Travco 270 for sale...\nThe price was so ridicoulous I could not pass it up. So off to Jersey to buy it. About a month later I get a good job offer with Benny's in CT. So we decide to move and the Travco comes in handy..I actually packed it to the hilt, hooked up a trailer and drove it to CT after we closed on our house up here. Did a few camping trips and then...Yep...I sold it. I did miss that one. I liked it except that one had drum brakes and did not stop good compared to the 1975.\nSo...It's now Christmas 2005...My wife's father just bought a new house in Amityville(Yes Amityville horror Amityville). So we head down. ritzy area...He's lawyer. We are pulling down the street and I SAY STOP !! STOP THE CAR !!!...\nTalk about fate...\nMy Fathers Travco 220 was sitting across the street from his new house. Flat tires...Had not moved in some time....\nNow that is fate..So I make contact with the owner. Hippy Chick. She is reluctant at first but after I tell her the whole story she feels bad and admits she does not have the mens to fix it up so she sells it to me for a song.\nI get it home. \nUnfortunatley...That is where it has sat every since. Sitting by the salt water took it's toll on the underneath. It needs all the floors and toolboxs replaced. Ok I am a welder. Then I find a 1974 Travco 220 on ebay in the next town over for 50$. No motor or trans, been sitting but It has the full disc brake setup. I have it dragged home. Towing guy felt sorry for me and charged me 90$. So fast forward to last spring. I drag them both out. The 1970 is full of mouse damage. Rotten little...!@#$. So I am getting ready to clean it up, I get it running and on CL I find a 1972 Travco 220 for free about 45 mins from my house. I go down and look at it and it sat for 20 years. Inside was destroyed. OUtside was pretty rough too. Looks like there had been a fire near it as the gelcoat was badly damaged and windshield melted....To be continued...dinner...

A bit more...\nOne of the members wanted more info about me....The man behind the curtain...
\nI am in my 40s, family man. I am a utility worker and truck mechanic. I have been around Travco's pretty much since I was 2 and some of my best childhood memories were in the family "Travco".I am also a diesel enthusiast and belong to several diesel forums. I searched around looking for a Travco forum but the best I could find was the Yahoo group, The board at Travco.org and Facebook which I don;t really like to use so I wanted to start one. I don't have very much tech knowledge so Mark(Private Pilot) offered to help me set this up(He did ALL the tech work ). I built it for my love of the Greatest RV ever built and hope it becomes a great resource. I have done alot with Travcos over the years but am certainly not the end all authority. This is an open forum and all I ask is members be courteous and helpful to each other.\nAny other questions, feel free to ask..and no I am not selling anything...lol\nTravcoforum.com is for the fans by the fans....\nKenny D
