New Travco owner

Unread post by FSJNut » Fri Jan 25, 2013 10:34 pm

Brand new owner. In fact, I haven't even picked it up yet. A 1975 320 that runs and drives (at least short distances), but needs a lot of work. Should keep me busy for a while.\nI've never owned a motor-home before, but have spent a lot of time working on British cars, full size Jeeps (Cherokees and Wagoneers), motorcycles, boats, etc.\nI live in Knoxville, Tennessee. The 320 is about 200 miles away near Nashville, TN. The plan is to attempt to drive it here the first Saturday in February. We'll see how that goes.\nThe goal for the Travco is to use it for camping in some of Tennessee's State parks and the Smokey Mountains. Most trips should be two hours or less. At some point my wife and I also plan to drive it to Massachusetts to visit my son and some very dear friends.\n\nMartin\n(FSJNut)

Very Cool. Definitely post up some pics in the 320 Section when you get it. Biggest Things to check:\nGas, make sure it's not rotten\nBrakes..Check the fluid make sure it's full crawl around under look for any leaks or badly rusted brake lines. That 320 is heavy, don't wanna lose the brakes. Check all your hoses etc. I drove my 270 Home on an outboard motor tank. Also check your tires for cracks, dryrot.\nTravco's are very well built. In fact some of the best built motorhomes every made.\nFeel free to ask any questions. Although I have never owned or worked on a 320, I am very familiar with Travcos in general. Make sure you push on the walls and ceilings especially in the closests and cabinets for water damage. The good thing about Travcos is they are Fiberglass over steel so even when the get leaks the damage is usually minimal. I am in NorthEast Ct so I am very close to Mass.\nGood Luck .\nThat surely is a nice looking Rig.
