New Guy in Saint Augustine, FL

Unread post by 47duallyFL » Mon Oct 21, 2013 6:40 am

Hello! My name is Bill and I do not own a Dodge motorhome. I own the front axle of a late 1970's Dodge motor home which I am trying to identify. If I can identify what model motorhome it comes from, and/or, at least identify the brakes, then I may install it under my 1947 Ford flatbed dually....\nBoth front and rear axles were removed from what now is just the chassis laying out in a farm field. I could not locate the number supposedly on the right side outer chassis at the front leaf spring.\nI would like to post what few pics I have and maybe you all could help me narrow this down. I may have to go back with a gas torch and remove some paint from the frame and have another look\nBillyD

How long is the donor chassis? If it's 27 or 32 foot then I think it would be a Dodge M500 or M600 chassis. That would be a 5000 lb rated front axle. What wheel bolt pattern does it have? \n Also - If the rear axle is still there, look for the year of production on the rear of the center section area.

I have the front axle only because I bought the rear axle, which is a Dana 70. The year on it seems to be '74, which is the same era as the MH. I thinking now that it is a Winnebago D-21 Brave, based of how the front end clip looks as well as the distinct headlamp config.\nHad a 360/727, 4:88 gears with front disk brakes. 8 lugs. Beginning to think it's an M300...

Hi Billy,\nThis is pretty much a Travco forum although we do welcome other Dodge based motorhomes . I moved this to Other .\nTo answer your question if it's 8 lug and Dodge based it is most likely an M300. Napa is the best source for parts.\nPost a few pics and we will try to identify what you have.

Im' going by the date of late 70's. There were some 60's 270's that had 8 lugs.
