1972 Dodge Southwood MYSTERY ABOUND ;)
Feet first, eyes squeezed shut and jump! Here is my first foray into a vintage motorhome. It's a 1972 Dodge Southwood. Apparently there was only a handful built before the company went under. They were built in Burnaby BC Canada. Everything is mint! I am however searching for new windshield glass as there is de-lamination around the edges. It's been almost impossible to find the glass, so far. \n\nThe glass measures:\n22" tall x 49" wide at front middle\n46" wide at outside top corner\n51" wide at outside bottom corner\n\nThere are numbers stamped on both inside bottom corners of curved glass but no product codes. The numbers are:\n\nDriver's side:\nPPG Duplate\nLaminated\nSafety Float\nAS1 M25 25 119\n\nPassenger side:\nPPG Duplate\nLaminated \nSafety Float\nAS1 M25 69\nDOT 18\n\nThe closest match from pictures so far, seems to be a 1960 Grumman Olsen Step Van \n\nAnyone out there a glass sleuthing expert? This is a mystery I'd love help solving

Welcome to the Forum Sydney. I wish I could help with the glass but maybe something can be found by using the numbers you found.

Thanks! Sadly so far the numbers haven't helped much. I called PPG but they didn't seem to think they could do much with the numbers. They referred me to Coach Glass, who they order their RV glass through but they don't have it either. They can make a custom one off but the cost is fairly prohibitive for me. Awesome customer service though! \n\nSo the search continues.....

And in a new twist....Grumman Olsen measurements aren't matching up BUT....dun dun daaaaaa (cue MYSTERY reveal music) This is another possible fit! It's an original ad for a 1959 Chevrolet Task Force Step Van Model 3545

Wow, never seen one of those. There is a company in Indiana(name escaps me) that still carries the Travco windshields...maybe try them ? You might be out of luck on that one though. Lucky they are only de laminated and not smashed I suppose.

Hmmmm....haven't seen a Travco yet that has a similar windshield Managed to find a possible left glass (I think that's the drivers side) through a wrecker, but it's tinted green.....would look odd having one clear and one green windshield. The search continues....\n\nHas anyone ever had a custom windshield made? Recommendations for companies? Costs involved?
