Need Help saving a 270

Unread post by jachord » Sat Dec 10, 2016 10:11 am

Any body in the dallas area able to help me rescue a 1970 270. I need to get it from Lucas to Paris. I have a tow bar and access to a one ton but it has been sitting on the same tires for 12 years. Thats a little long for to trust them for 80 miles. Any body have 4 wheels I can borrow to get the rv home? I will bring them back. I just switched jobs and can not afford a tow truck right now.

I do a lot of military truck recoveries and have experience doing stuff like this and my advice is don't do it. Have it towed. You will save yourself a lot,of heartache and a potential disaster. \nA 1 ton truck is nowhere near capable of stopping 14,000lbs of RV . When I tow, I use a military grade towbar rated at 40,000lb pounds. \nAlso most if not all states, it is illegal to flat tow an unregistered or unissued Vehichle . I usually put a temp or dealer tag on the stuff I tow.\nRegister it first and put triple a platinum RV coverage on it , wait a week and call them.\nI'm gonna move this thread to the 270 forum. This section is for people broken down and in need of emergency help as the thread emails the staff directly when someone posts here.\nHeed my advice. Been around the block a few times.

Had to pass on it anyway. Just too far gone. I was getting it for next to nothing so it was worth the drive out there. Sad part is that it will be towed off by the city now. The guy is a hoarder.

\nWhat ever happened to this Travco? Since you are no longer buying it, I might be interested....and I live kinda close to it.

\nThanks! Curiously, I have been to that house before to discuss another vehicle they have parked in their yard, lol.

This Travco is not worth saving. No engine, and a couple windows have been left open to the elements for who-knows how long. Oddly, the forum is only allowing me to upload one picture per post, so I will not take the time to post all the photos I took. Suffice it to say, the interior is a mess.
