Well most of our rigs have had damaged holding tanks. Alot of the ones I have seen have the u shaped cut out in the middle which on the 270 is to accommodate the shower drain. I have yet to find an aftermarket tank like this. I tried repairing mine with a product called Plastimend. It lasted about a year then became brittle and flaked off and cracked. \nSo...back to square one. Anyone ever try thermowelding ?

Yes... At Harbor Freight, they have two or more types of "plastic welders". Also a pack of various "welding" rods for different plastics, color coded for usage. Obviously a budget source for needed plastics in volume for a particular repair job would mean a expendable item such as a plastic bucket, a damaged water tank etc. There used to be a site some years ago for converted buses wherein a very capable member or site owner scratch built his own tanks to fit using the thermo-weld process and plastic sheets..(many step by step pictures) The site is/was quite fascinating to view..(12-15 years ago)\nFWIW/HTH\nBBB

I am at a year and a half with the plastimend repairs to my tank and there is no sign of flaking off yet. Most of the repairs were on the top of the tank but one was around the main drain. I am hoping it stays that way.

My parts 220 looks to have the same tank. That one has some damage also but not as much. I might yank that one and practice thermowelding on it.

Update on the plastimend. I called the guy. He wasn't sure why I had a problem but sent me another kit at no charge.\nI think I got a bad batch the first time. it took almost 2 weeks to finnaly cure.\nThis time it cured in less than 24 hrs so hopefully I'm in good shape.....To be continued
