For what it is worth, my Onan manual (CCKB series) sates the following for crankcase oil:\n"4qts, 30W, Heavy Duty Detergent oil that meets API service designations MS, MS/DG, or MS/DM and should have passed ASTM-G-IV and MIL-L-2104B.\n DO NOT USE Service DS oil! "\n Note that they say to use a detergent oil.\n I haven't yet deciphered all the detergent vs. non-detergent stuff. Many say non-detergent for generators, and other equipment that do not have true oil filters, and others say detergent is fine.\n I know that BBB uses non-detergent. Any others want to chime in?
