Hi\nThanks for the new section! \nI'll start it out with a dumb question.\nYesterday I was told that the electric cable that has a dryer type plug in needs a adapter to go to a 110 power supply. But the label says 110/240. So is this for 220 power or 110?\nDave

Hi \nToday I had a little time to mess with the 290.\nI put a battery charger on it and tested some of the electrical circuit's.\nEverything I tried worked. :D \nAlso worked on the starter system, unfortunately the bellhouse on the trans is broken at the starter mount.\nI made a new mount that should give me a shot at getting the engine to run.\nTomorrow I am going to rig up a gas tank system to try a start up.\n The trans will have to be pulled to repair the damage properly.\n The trans was rebuilt but they didn't tighten the starter and it broke the bell, that is why the previous owner parked it.\nI have several 727 cases to replace it with .\nDave

\nNot dumb at all. You probably have a 50 amp 220 plug. I can't remember if there is a 50 amp to 15 amp 110. I do mine in two stages. I use a 50 amp to 30 amp then a 30amp to 15 amp.\nAlthough I am not familiar with the 290, I would assume it is a typical RV. Everything in it is 110 but the 50 amp plug at a campground is 220 but it divides into two 110 legs . The 30 amp adapter combines the two legs on the RV service panel together.\nHard to explain without a picture. Maybe I'll draw something up- but the short answer is yes you need an adapter. Any RV supply or even Amazon will have them..\nThis would do it in one shot but I like having a 50 amp to 30 amp as some campgrounds dont have a 50 amp site and the 15 amp is really not enough to run the a/cs properly.\n\nhttp://www.amazon.com/Camco-55168-PowerGrip-Do ... v\n\n\n\nI use this:\nhttp://www.amazon.com/Camco-55185-PowerGrip-Do ... +rv\n\nand then this with it :\nhttp://www.amazon.com/Camco-55165-PowerGrip-Do ... +rv\n\n\nI realize this transition can be done with the first adapter I listed but the use of the next two give you more options depending on where you are staying.

That stinks about the trans but pulling the trans on these is pretty easy. Just make sure the spare case you have is a big block case.

Hi Everyone\nAfter spending most of the weekend going over the unit I have decided the amount of work to put it safely back on the road is too much for me. :( \n I am therefore going to part it out, I want to keep the driveline and frame. Everything else is available.\nLet me know what you are interested in and make me a offer.\nI am not looking to get rich on the parts so just be fair on your offers.\nI would like to keep the body sealed until any usable interior parts are sold.\nYou can PM me here or 724-456-5605\nI'll post it in the for sale section also.\nThanks \nDave

Oh man, I hate to hear that, especially a 290. The parts are not worth much save for the windshileds. Maybe resell the unit to someone who will save it ?\nWe can help you restore it if you change you mind. I can give you my number if you need help.

It is a shame I can't do it right now but I have to be realistic. If I do the 290 I won't have any place to put it when done and it would get little use anyway.\nI will feel better knowing it may help someone else get theirs on the road.\nThank you for the help offer though.\nDave

Farmboy: Can we assume you found a deep dark fatal flaw in your 290? You went from optimistic about getting it back on the road to parting It out in a couple days.\n\nRobC

Hi\nNo not really anything big other than the broken trans case.\n\nBut looking at the bigger picture, I can't put the money and time it would take to make it a safe unit for long trips.\nAll the electrical seems to work but there is a lot of butt connectors tied into most of the wiring and I would never trust it with out rewiring the whole thing.\n\nHow I came about getting it was I was looking for a big block engine for my street rod. I was not looking to restore a RV .\nThis came from a customer of mine who new I was looking for a engine and he wanted rid if it.\nOnly after getting it and seeing what it was did I decide to maybe restore it, now seeing what it needs I know it is a bad idea for my needs.\n \nBut I would like to help someone else get their RV on the road if possible.\nTime is not a problem as I have plenty of space for it to sit.\nI would sell the whole unit, but that would not make sense money wise as I would need more than it is worth whole than what I can build a 440 for.\nDave
