tank sending unit
Hi All, Im working on a 75 m500 with a 440 engine. Im in need of a gas tank sending unit. Are theses beasts available? The one i took out was bent up, and had a co2 gun cartridge as a float, so i dont think its right. Does anyone have a pic of what the sending unit looks like?\n\nThanks,\nAndy

77 Travco dropped his tank and replaced the sender. Here is a link to the thread. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=370

Be sure to read the whole thread... the Isspro unit that I installed the 2nd time around is still working very well for me.

Travco77, in that linked thread you say that you never got the ISSPRO R8927 unit to read correctly at the dash. Did you solve this problem? Thanks.

Re: tank sending unit
\nThe fuel gauge reads just under the full mark when the tank is filled all the way up. I know that when it reads empty there is actually just under 1/4 tank of fuel so I figure it's like a safety buffer.Zed wrote:Travco77, in that linked thread you say that you never got the ISSPRO R8927 unit to read correctly at the dash. Re: tank sending unit
I'm wondering if some sort of resistor put in line with the gauge would solve this issue, looking into it since I think I need a new sender. I'll let you know if I find anything. Something like this seems more likely to work if the play was on the other end, ie if it read full until it got to a 1/2 tank then it dropped to 3/4ths.

Re: tank sending unit
The resistance is not the issue. It's more to do with setting up the universal sending unit in the first place. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly when measuring and cutting the float rod. \nI tried to "out smart" the instructions in order to build in a buffer zone when reading empty but I now think that they may have done that too.
