1975 Travco 270 for sale
I am selling my Travco. It broke down last night and I had to limp it home and I'm done with old unreliable junk.\nIt has an unknown problem with the engine. It backfires through the carb randomly but mostly under heavy load.\nI have no idea what's wrong with it and I am not throwing anymore money at it. If it does not sell by spring, I will cut it up for parts and part it out.\nThe interior was completely redone and done right. New walls, new flooring, refinished all the woodwork. It has a new fridge, new hot water heater(both gas or elec).\nAll the appliances work as they should.\nThe dash air blows ice cold and has be retrofitted with R134a(with new drier and R134a Expansion valve).\nBoth windshields are new and so is the gasket. All the plumbing was upgraded to pex. It has an outdoor shower.\nAll the brakes have been replaced. New pads, shoes, wheel cyls lines, hydravacs, master cyl and it stops on a dime. it has disc fronts.\nIt has a hitch and electric brake controller.\nI am sure I am forgetting a ton of stuff I might add as I think of it.\nKnown issues:\nThe engine runs like crap. Don't know why. Doesn't smoke or burn any oil. Has new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel filters, fuel pump, carb rebuilt two years ago.\nHas sony stereo with CD and USB port.\nHas Onan 4k Generator that runs perfect.\nThis RV has been used regularly for the last 3 yrs and was running great till a few weeks ago. It would be an excellent candidate for a Cummins swap and scrap the junk gas motor.\nThe paint is faded BUT the gelcoat is NOT cracked.\nRadiator was removed and boiled out. New belts hoses. New seal on PS Box. Looking for a Toyhauler so would trade ths plus cash for a decent one. Must hold atleast 2 atvs.\nPropane tank has all new fittings. Gen box replaced.\nNew rear spring.\nNew Power Convertor\nNew ujoints and hangar bearing. All new wheels seals and front bearings packed.\nIt can most likely be driven if you go easy and avoid hills. But know there is a problem and I make no guarantees.\n4500$ firm. I can part it out for more than that and I will.

I drove it around for 2 hrs today and it ran fine except if I sat in neutral and revved it really high it would break up. It will probably drive to it's new home fine.

HHhhmmm... sounds like sticky valves to me... A oil/valve conditioner added to the oil might help... FWIW\nBBB

This is interesting. How do I learn more? I have a good engine, and am looking for a good chassis.

I have decided not to sell it at this time.\nCould not bring myself to do it and believe it's running good. I honestly think I got a load of bad gas because generator was running screwy today too.
