270 in Minnesota

Unread post by ontheroad » Thu Mar 09, 2017 10:28 am

Hello, Newb here in Central Minnesota. Been lurking on this site for about 6 months or so now. My wife Emily and I are looking at Travco 270's. We have not seen any face to face or driven/rode in any. So we are wondering if anyone in Minnesota would let us come over and have you show off your 270 to us. Maybe take us for a ride, so we can get a feel of them going down the road?? Road trips are good, so we have no problem driving to you. I have a couple other q's that I didn't find in searching. How tall are the 270's?(For storing purposes) And is the length 27' front of bumper to back of bumper?(Same, for storing purposes). Thanks for your help! Matt

Welcome to the Forum. As for height of the 270 I have heard between 10 and 12 feet depending on things like the size of the AC unit. I have never measured mine although I really should. As for length I think the 27' is the length of the body. Some Travcos have an extended front bumper that was set up for a tool box. (I have the extended bumper but still searching for that elusive box).

Thanks. I'll bet there is a bit of difference between ac manufacturers. So the overall length would be closer to 30' by the time you figure in the spare and front bumper.

Thank you BBB. I have an opening in a shed that's 10'2" it should be pretty easy to open that up a bit so it will clear.

I apologize I didn't update this post. We bought a 1976 270 2+2 a couple months ago. We absolutely love the Travco! We got to take it out on 3 trips this fall and we are knee deep into buying stuff to fix it up this winter! Here is a few pics! The bottom two pics are the day we picked her up, and the top one was our first trip with her. Thanks.

Well..... it's a big car trailer. 20k 20ft including the 2ft beavertail. But with that said it was tail heavy!!! It tail whipped so bad!! We got up to 50 and and it wasn't pretty. So we made the 3 1/2 hour trip in 5 hours at 48 mph. The nice thing was we put a battery in it and poured some gas down the carb and drove it on the trailer.

\n\nI can only imagine how tail heavy that was! Well done.
I'm hyped up about Proextender because it works.
